Rockstar Games has officially delayed Grand Theft Auto 6. After months of speculation, GTA 6 has officially been delayed, although we also now have a true release date for Rockstar’s open-world crime game: May 26th 2026.
In a statement released to fans on social media, Rockstar confirmed that the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto sequel will now release in just over a year’s time. The game is still set to release exclusively on Xbox Series X, Series S and PlayStation 5 with a PC port likely planned to release a year later.
GTA 6 delayed
In a post to fans, Rockstar expressed their disappointment at the delay – although, at this point, it’s expected – and apolgised to excited fans.
“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected,” Rockstar told fans. “The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.”
“With each game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception,” they continued. “We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
